What is a Facility Dog?
Facility Dogs meet the standards of Assistance Dogs International and can be placed in schools, courts, airports, health facilities and more, providing a calming presence, companionship and emotional support.
Facility Dogs can be placed permanently with an organisation or participate in a visitation program, depending on the needs of the organisation and the people they support.
Our Facility Dog Visitation Program offers a flexible way for organisations to incorporate the benefits of spending time with a specially trained dog into their existing programs and activities.

Our Facility Dog Visitation Program provides structured visits designed around your organisation’s needs and the outcomes you’d like to achieve.
Whether you’re looking to support student wellbeing, create positive experiences for clients, or introduce an additional source of connection for residents or staff, we’ll work with you to explore how a visitation program could complement your existing initiatives.
Unlike a permanent Facility Dog placement, our visitation model means the dog attends scheduled sessions with a trained handler from Guide Dogs SA/NT. We retain responsibility for the dog’s ongoing care, allowing your organisation to benefit from regular visits without taking on the long-term responsibility of a dog.
All participating dogs in our Facility Dog Visitation Program are trained to the same rigorous standards as our Guide, Assistance and Facility Dogs. This ensures they meet the highest benchmarks for safety and behaviour.
Our team works closely with your organisation to ensure each visit is tailored to your group’s needs and intended wellbeing outcomes, providing meaningful opportunities for connection and support.

Our Facility Dog Visitation Program offers one-hour sessions, with scheduling tailored to your organisation’s needs. Visits may be arranged as a one-off session or as part of a regular program, depending on your goals and requirements.
Tailored programs: Longer-term arrangements can be discussed with our team, with pricing dependent on your program requirements.
Pricing: Costs depend on your group size and visit requirements.
Each session includes travel, one dog and one trained handler.

Our Pat and Chat visits offer a relaxed opportunity for workplaces and community groups to meet an Ambassadog, enjoy some time with our dogs and learn more about Guide Dogs SA/NT and the work we do.
