Sharing our impact with supporters
On Thursday 2 July 2026, were delighted to welcome around 50 generous supporters to a morning tea in Darwin, where we shared stories of the difference their support makes and the impact we’re creating together.
Connecting with our supporters face-to-face is always a highlight. We have an incredibly diverse community of people and businesses who each have their own connection to Guide Dogs SA/NT, and hearing those stories is a wonderful reminder of the shared commitment to helping people with low vision and blindness live with confidence and independence.
It was also an opportunity to reflect on the impact we’ve made across the Northern Territory over the past 12 months. Together, we’ve:
- Supported almost 100 clients with specialised vision services.
- Delivered over 540 hours of specialised support, including over 210 charity-funded hours.
- Travelled thousands of kilometres to reach people living in regional and remote communities.
From the Tiwi Islands to Alice Springs, Yuendumu and beyond, our team delivers specialist vision services to people of all ages and at every stage of vision loss. As the only vision service provider with permanent staff based in the Northern Territory, we’re committed to ensuring no community misses out on the support they need.
Our Senior Orientation and Mobility Instructor, Mick, also spoke about the life-changing impact of helping clients build confidence, maintain their independence and stay connected to their communities.

Welcoming our new Patron
One of the week’s highlights was meeting His Honour, the Honourable David Connolly, Administrator of the Northern Territory and Guide Dogs SA/NT’s recently appointed Patron.
His Honour welcomed our team to Government House, including Guide Dogs SA/NT staff member and client Alana, accompanied by her Guide Dog Rocket. During the visit, our team enjoyed a tour of Government House and afternoon tea while sharing more about the vital work we deliver to support people living with low vision and blindness across the Northern Territory.
We are grateful for His Honour’s support and look forward to working together as we continue to strengthen our services and support more Territorians.

Celebrating NAIDOC Week
The week concluded with our team taking part in the NAIDOC Week Deadly Cup Carnival and Deadly Health Expo in Garramilla (Darwin), connecting with community members and raising awareness of Guide Dogs SA/NT’s services.
Joining our Northern Territory-based Senior Orientation and Mobility Instructor Mick were CEO Daniel Cox, Business Development Officer Toni Castle, Clinical Services Team Leader and Senior Orthoptist Jason Loh, and Partnerships Manager Natalie Whitehead.
The team enjoyed answering questions about our services and hosted one of the stops on the Walkabout Treasure Map activity, where participants collected stamps from exhibitors for the chance to win prizes.
We’re proud to celebrate NAIDOC Week and to continue building meaningful relationships with First Nations communities across the Territory. By working alongside local communities and improving access to specialist vision services, we can help more Territorians live with confidence, independence and inclusion, no matter their postcode.
