Our Patrons

November 30, 2017
Quincy

From the early days of Guide Dogs SA/NT we have been proud to have had the Governor of SA and the Chief Administrator of the NT as our Patrons and appreciate the incredibly proactive support from the respective incumbents throughout the years.

Our gallery this week is indicative of the historical support that we have received, not the least of which has been the generous opening of the grounds of Government House for Guide Dogs International Guide Dog Day celebrations recently.

Sir Edric Bastyan was Patron from 1963-1969.  His historical words represent much of the sentiment shared by many about the wonderful work of Guide Dogs.

This will be my last opportunity to address you as your Patron before my wife and I return to England on completion of my term of office as Governor of South Australia.

We will take with us deep and lasting impressions of the past seven intensely interesting years; and chief among those impressions will be our admiration of the devoted men and women who give new hope and life to the afflicted.

The work of Guide Dogs for the Blind Association has a special significance in that failure cannot be accepted and yet surely, in no sphere of community endeavour can success be more rewarding.

There will, we know, always be a need for the Association and to fullfill that need I pray that your splendid example of selfless, patient teamwork will forever be maintained by those who follow on.

Thank you to all our Patrons for your support, encouragement and involvement.

I need help

I thought that the room was really dark, but actually it wasn’t the room, it was me.

I know that I will be fine because if I need help, I have Guide Dogs to turn to.
