New CEO for Guide Dogs SA/NT
One of Adelaide’s top business executives, Aaron Chia, has been appointed as the Chief Executive of Guide Dogs SA/NT.
In making the announcement, the Chairman of Guide Dogs SA/NT Joe Thorp said the organisation was pleased to attract an executive of Mr Chia’s calibre to lead it in a phase of transformational change.
Mr Chia has more than 20 years experience with a range of sectors. He comes to Guide Dogs with a solid commercial background and outstanding track record, most recently with the Motor Accident Commission as Chief Executive Officer and Deputy CEO with SA Ambulance.
Mr Chia said he was delighted to be appointed to lead and grow a well-known and loved organisation at a pivotal time in its 60 year history in South Australia, particularly as the not-for-profit sector is adjusting to the requirements of the National Disability Insurance Scheme environment.
“It is an honour to be part of an organisation that has such a significant impact on the community,” Mr Chia said. “Through this, and in my previous roles. it has been a privilege to help make a difference to the lives of people.
“I also look forward to bringing my commercial skills to launching Beau’s Pet Hotel at the Adelaide Airport later this year and developing this bold social enterprise as a new, solid income stream to support the funding of Guide Dogs services.”
Mr Chia has integrated his executive roles with a passion for community with as Chair of the Community Business Bureau and a board member of Uniting Care Wesley at Bowden.
Mr Thorp said Mr Chia’s ability to build strong relationships and partnerships will be a key to Guide Dogs SA/NT taking charge of its future to meet the needs of its customers.
“The board and I are looking forward to working with Aaron to take Guide Dogs SA/NT forward as a leading charity serving the South Australia and the Northern Territory communities in providing safety, independence and inclusion to people living with sensory loss,” Mr Thorp said.
