On International Guide Dog Day we honoured our graduating teams and said thank you to our loyal retiring dogs for their amazing service.

In making presentations to the graduating teams, His Excellency the Governor of South Australia the Hon Hieu Van Le said  we honour and express our gratitude to these dogs who have so positively impacted the lives of so many.

“I offer my very best wishes to today’s graduating teams – for a bright and successful future together,” he said.

The Minister for Disability the Hon Leesa Vlahos presented medallions to our loyal retiring dogs. In introducing the MInisister, the Chairman of Guide Dogs, Joe Thorp, thanked each and every one of our retiring dogs for being the eyes and ears of their handler.

“We acknowledge the love as well as the service you have given,” he said. “We can make no higher calling of a dog than choosing them to be a Guide Dog. It’s a special calling. Higher even than a police dog.

“These exceptional dogs provide trusted care that is so special.”

I need help

I thought that the room was really dark, but actually it wasn’t the room, it was me.

I know that I will be fine because if I need help, I have Guide Dogs to turn to.
