National Volunteer Week ran from Monday 16 to Sunday 22 May this year and is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteers. Guide Dogs joined organisations across the country in celebrating Australia’s many volunteers, who dedicate millions of hours each year to help others. At Guide Dogs SA/NT, we are grateful to have nearly 250 volunteers who choose to make a difference for our clients and their families, and bring joy to people’s lives.

Celebrations kicked off Monday morning with the National Volunteer Week parade through Adelaide City. It was great to see staff and volunteers marching side by side, proudly representing the volunteers of our organisation. From supporting donor engagement and other administrative duties, maintaining our iconic Collection Dogs and tap-to-donate machines, informing the public and advocating for Guide Dogs, to caring for our wonderful dogs as they embark on their life-changing careers, each of our incredible volunteers play an important role in helping Guide Dogs achieve our purpose.

The dedication that our volunteers have towards our organisation contributes greatly to this.

Here is a small selection of photos captured at this morning’s parade.

If you would like to get involved, there are corporate and individual volunteering opportunities available!

Again, a huge thank you to volunteers everywhere!

I need help

I thought that the room was really dark, but actually it wasn’t the room, it was me.

I know that I will be fine because if I need help, I have Guide Dogs to turn to.
