Organisation Update

Late last year I announced that I would be retiring as Chief Executive Officer of Guide Dogs SA/NT. Over the past nine years, it’s been an absolute privilege to lead such a dedicated team and to work within a community that shares our passion for helping people live with greater independence, confidence and dignity.
Since 2017, together we’ve achieved so much; including expanding our dog services program and broadening our support for people with low vision, blindness, and specialised support needs, braving the cold and raising funds while completing nearly 300 walks during PAWGUST, and launching Beau’s Pet Hotel as a thriving social enterprise. We’ve faced challenges and change, particularly through the rollout of the NDIS and years of uncertainty through the pandemic, but we’ve continued to adapt and deliver on our mission.
I’m incredibly proud of my team’s resilience, innovation and compassion, and of the lasting impact Guide Dogs SA/NT continues to have across our community.
My decision to semi-retire comes from a place of gratitude and reflection. “Family first” has always been a non-negotiable for me, and with the arrival of my first granddaughter, I’m looking forward to spending more time with my family while continuing my community work by serving on various boards, which currently includes Community Business Bureau (CBB) and YourPlace Housing, both of which I am privileged to chair.
Working with Guide Dogs has been extremely rewarding and highly enjoyable for me, and I will continue to give back to the organisation.
Now, I’m pleased to share that our board has successfully appointed Daniel Cox as our next CEO, who will commence on 9 February. I wish him every success and am sure he will lead Guide Dogs SA/NT into its next phase with purpose and impact. Dan is very excited to be appointed CEO and looks forward to working with the team.
My last working day will be Friday, 6 February. This will allow for a smooth handover and continuity for the team and our community.
Thank you again for your support during my nine years at the helm, it has meant a great deal. I’m looking forward to my next chapter, and to watching Guide Dogs SA/NT continue to thrive under new leadership.
Kind regards
Aaron Chia
