Would you like to improve your safety and independence at home? Or could someone you care about benefit from training or technology to make everyday tasks easier?
Join our free Empowered Living Program in April and discover strategies and tools to develop safe habits in and around the home.
The Empowered Living Program is a new skill development and education program specially designed for people who have experienced recent vision loss or blindness.

The Empowered Living Program will explore a different topic each month. In April, we will support you to Feel Safer at Home. The four-week course will include:
Session 1 – Falls prevention and safety at home.
Tuesday, 6th April, 10am via Zoom.
- Increase your awareness at home to create a safer environment.
- Explore strategies to make moving around your home safer.
- Various strategies for home security.
Session 2: Adequate lighting and glare reduction strategies.
Tuesday, 13th April, 10am via Zoom.
- Explore task and environmental lighting options and strategies to make the most effective use of lighting in your home.
- Explore strategies to reduce glare.
Session 3: Low vision strategies.
Tuesday, 20th April, 10am via Zoom.
- Discover how contrast, colour, size, positioning and other techniques can assist in using residual vision, or tactile senses, to complete tasks at home.
- Learn labelling and storage techniques to make your daily activities easier.
Session 4: Equipment / Assistive Technology
Tuesday, 27th April, 10am via Zoom.
- Explore a range of low vision aids/assistive technology that will enhance your safety and independence.
