About the event
Join us for more Guide Dogs Social Happy Hour sessions in May!
Open to anyone experiencing a vision loss, as well as family and friends, it’s a chance to catch up for a chat and meet new people, all from the comfort of your own home.
Held via Zoom, the platform is fully accessible and can be used on your phone, computer or tablet. Each session will run for 45 – 60 minutes and will be facilitated by a Guide Dogs staff member.
The Social Happy Hour will run throughout 2021 with a different theme each month. Our sessions are both fun and educational, and are a great way to stay connected and build confidence in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Registrations are essential. Register via the links provided below or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or phoning 08 8203 8347. If you would like help joining a session, please contact Simon Wong on 08 8203 8334 or Salina Shrestha on 08 8203 8347.
Our theme for May is assistive apps and technology, with two sessions to come along to. Compare the latest technology and low vision aids to learn what’s available to assist you with your daily activities and mobility.
Session 1: Apps for everyday use
Explore and compare different apps and technologies to understand which ones are suitable for specific everyday tasks such as reading, colour identification, organisation or real-time navigation technology – just to name a few! Hear directly from those who have used the technology and gain a greater insight into how the apps can best assist you.
Time: 11:00 AM
Session 2: Mobility Apps
Learn about the latest low vision and blind specific orientation and GPS apps, including various transport apps for travelling by bus, train and taxi.
