About the event

A sketch of three spoons: one gray, one blue, and one pink, arranged side by side on a plain background.

It’s often difficult to explain the added fatigue and sensory overload of Low Vision and Vision Loss, so in this session we explore a concept called “The Spoon Theory”. Created by Christine Miserandino in 2003, this metaphor of ‘spoons’ assists people with disability and chronic illnesses to explain the extra invisible energy in day to day life and assists for planning daily tasks to avoid burnout and discuss tips and tools for managing sensory overload and fatigue management.
