As a Guide Dog or Autism Assistance Dog handler or Puppy Raiser, have you experienced exceptional service, above and beyond legal requirements?

Businesses and services that have gone above and beyond in providing access to people with Guide Dogs and Autism Assistance Dogs will be acknowledged at this year’s International Guide Dog Day celebrations on Friday 27 April.

Previously called the Guide Dogs Access Awards, we have changed the name to highlight the human side of accessibility and inclusion.

By law Guide Dogs and Assistance Dogs have the right to access any place in the community including:

Travelling in taxi, bus, train, plane or water vessel
Shopping in any store
Eating in any restaurant
Staying in any hotel, motel or caravan park.

Exceptional service above and beyond these legal access rights includes warm and helpful service that makes you feel comfortable and included.

Nominations for the Friends of Guide Dogs Awards are now open and we would like to hear from you.

Please download and print the Friends of Guide Dogs Awards Nomination Form, fill in the details and return it to us by Wednesday 18 April.

Help give the greatest gift

I’m looking forward to the future, and this Christmas I’m hoping to receive the greatest gift: a Guide Dog.
