About the event

Happy National Volunteer Week! Today, a group of our valued volunteers and staff paraded through Adelaide with Volunteering SA & NT in celebration of the amazing contribution volunteers make to our community.

The theme of National Volunteer Week 2019 is ‘Making a world of difference.’ At Guide Dogs SA/NT, our volunteers generously give their time, talent and passion to support our essential programs and services.

From the dedicated people who lead our Board and Committees to the more than 200 volunteers who work across Dog Services, Fundraising, Business Support, Community Talks, Client Support Services and more, our volunteers are changing lives.

With each phone call made, every collection dog distributed, each puppy raised or dog boarded, volunteers support our mission to enable independence, participation, inclusion and wellbeing in the lives of our clients.

As renowned anthropologist Dr Jane Goodall once said, “Everything you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”

This National Volunteer Week, we say thank you to our volunteers for believing in our vision, supporting our work and choosing to make a world of difference for people living with vision impairment and the families of children with autism.

I need help

Help give the greatest gift

I’m looking forward to the future, and this Christmas I’m hoping to receive the greatest gift: a Guide Dog.
